Meeting
Time and Format
6:00
pm Social hour for meeting new people or becoming
reacquainted. During this period we will discuss the distribution of Commonweal
subscribers in the area, and how we might serve them with our new blog. See the following post for more information:
6:45 - 8:15 pm Topic: We will discuss the Letter of Pope Francis to the People of God.
See the following post for overview, contexts, and links (the letter itself is only about four pages):
The room is
available until 9:00pm when the church closes. There are many eating places in
the area for those who might wish to socialize afterwards.
We welcome subscribers, readers and friends of Commonweal to our meetings. However they are required to preregister by sending an E-mail to Jack Rakosky at jarakosky@gmail.com.
Participants are expected to have read the material, and the group does a good job of staying on the topic. There is plenty of time before and after the discussion period to go off on tangents.
The eleven topics of the first year where suggested by a total of seven people. We choose the topic for the next meeting at the end each meeting. The group has been very good at affirming suggestions.
If you wish to discuss an article in Commonweal come to a meeting, and suggest it for the next meeting. Below is a post which list the topics for the first year. Remember, however, if you are not a subscribers that clicking on any of the links will count as one of your free 5 articles for the month!
