 From the Obituary

DR. WAYNE NICHOLAS LOBUE. Born July 16, 1939 passed away peacefully on August 28, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved father of Daniel (Daphne), Paul (Xenia), Michelle, Monica (Trent), and Matthew (Emily); Grandfather to Carmen, Emily, Rachel, Isabella, CJ, Trenton, and Ryan; and friend, mentor, and teacher to many. Wayne was a retired Professor from Gilmour Academy (30+ Years), Lakeland Community College (30+ Years), and Tri-C. He possessed several degrees including a Bachelor of Arts, 3 Masters Degrees, and a Doctorate. Wayne was an extraordinary man and was passionate about truth, a Philosopher to the core. His spiritual journey included serving as a Carmelite, volunteer Trappist Monk, and was ordained as a Buddhist Priest in 2016. His illustrious life affected many people. He was kind, compassionate, and had immense love for his children, as well as many others.

Wayne was one of the nine people at the first Commonweal Local Community meeting here in Cleveland. He provided regular attendance and leadership until his illness. When it became impossible for him to travel, he invited us to his home for our August meeting. His daughter told us how important our meetings were to Wayne and how determined he was to attend this meeting. He was able to participate strongly. He passed the next day.
Wayne had spoken often of the importance of Commonweal Local Communities to his family and friends. Betty and Jack prepared the container with herbs above for Wayne’s wake since his daughter engages in container gardening on their porch. Praying the Divine Office was an important part of Wayne’s life. At the conclusion of the wake, Betty and Jack led the women and men in the recitation of Evening Prayer from the Office for the Dead.
Betty and Jack attended the Mass of Christian Burial which was at Gilmour Academy where Wayne had taught. Betty, a cantor, assisted the Musical Director of  Saint Noel at the service. We went to the family and friends gathering at Wayne's home afterwards.
